PKR-appointed councillor accused of corruption

KLANG: Another Klang Municipal councillor has been implicated in the issuance of support letters to secure business for a family member.

The PKR appointee had allegedly helped to get at least four contracts for her husband’s company.

This was revealed yesterday at a press conference by Kapar MCA division chief Datuk Song Kee Chai.

“The councillor, who sits on the tender board, is supposed to be fair in granting contracts and should not be helping her cronies,” said Song.

Song alleged the company had received contracts for property evaluation, landscaping and engineering since last year.

Later in the day, Song lodged a police report at the South Klang District police headquarters.

Song said he would also be lodging a report against the councillor with the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission today.

Meanwhile, Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said necessary action would be initiated against the councillor if the allegations against her were proven to be true.

Klang Municipal Council’s PKR whip Azmizam Zaman Huri declined to comment.
